The International Conference and Training Workshop “Innovation in the 4.0 Technology Era: New Labor Market and Educational Changes”

On September 21 and 22, 2022, School of Foreign Languages – Thai Nguyen University (SFL-TNU) collaborated with the INCREASE Project to organize an international conference and training workshop on “Innovation in the 4.0 Technology Era: New Labor Market and Educational Changes”.

The workshop took place successfully with the participation of 30 units from the National Foreign Project 2020, educational institutions inside and outside Thai Nguyen University; high schools of Thai Nguyen province; scientists, education experts and 700 students majoring in English from 05 universities of TNU. Especially, there were delegates from universities and business associations of Europe, including: University of Klagenfurt (Austria), Sumo Technologies Company, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Thailand, Ms. Vu Quynh Nga, Fulbright Program Director, Ms. Vu Thi Diu, Fulbright Program Assistant and Ms. Kate Bartlett, Cultural Attaché, US Embassy in Hanoi.
Coming to the conference, scientists had the opportunity to participate in training and share practical experiences on teaching methods “Participatory and Reflective methods” and application of technical training tools in foreign language teaching.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung – President of Thai Nguyen University gave opening remark  

On behalf of Thai Nguyen University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung, President of Thai Nguyen University welcomed international speakers, scientists, experts, English teachers, students of Thai Nguyen University attending international seminars and training workshops. Expressing his joy when Thai Nguyen University was honored to cooperate with the INCREASE Project under the Erasmus Plus Program to organize this conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung hoped that the delegates would gather their wisdom to exchange and share and spread the contents of the workshop’s objectives, which focused on 04 contents: Sharing practical experiences on teaching methods “Participatory and Reflective methods” and applying digital training tools in foreign language teaching; Identifying the current major difficulties and barriers affecting the ability and quality of teaching methods to apply digital training tools in current university-level foreign language training programs onion; Identifying the challenges that need to be addressed to encourage the implementation and replication of teaching methods that apply digital training tools in appropriate and effective ways in higher education institutions, college students and teachers at all levels; Identifying foreign language training majors/specialties with potential for development and identify cooperation partners to build international projects in this field of education and training.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasmin Donlic from Alpen Adria University – Austria shared innovative teaching skills, developing foreign language teaching methods

On September 21, at the Digital Center – Thai Nguyen University, 02 speakers from Alpen Adria University – Austria Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasmin Donlic and Dr. Daniel Lehner trained innovative teaching skills and developed foreign language teaching methods for 120 English teachers of higher education institutions inside and outside Thai Nguyen University, scientists, and educators and high school teachers. The speakers introduced new teaching methods to develop students’ ability to think critically, analyze and work in groups. At the same time, the speakers also provided tools for teachers to apply information technology in teaching activities.
At Thai Nguyen University Convention Center, Dr. Rainer Svacinka, CEO of SUMO Technology Company, who runs the INCREASE Project, and M.A. Federica Striglio of Erasmus Plus Program provided leadership, entrepreneurship and soft skills training for 700 students majoed in English of Thai Nguyen University. Many interesting knowledge related to entrepreneurship, soft skills, and career skills for students were conveyed by the speakers in an open and modern way, attracting a large number of participants.

Participants in the workshop shared experiences in developing critical and analytical thinking and teamwork skills for learners.

On September 22, the seminar took place at the School of Foreign Languages – Thai Nguyen University with the presentation and presentation of the project “Vignettes and Photovoice” by nearly 300 students of K44 School of Foreign Languages and the presentation of the newspaper. Report on applying 06 modules in teaching English at the unit, meeting to discuss the contents related to the cooperation program and building a new project. Besides, the Conference Organizing Committee also arranged sightseeing and experience activities in Thai Nguyen for the delegates.

The conference and training workshop is also one of the programs in the strategic direction of the Thai Nguyen University and its member universities to improve the capacity of innovation, scientific research, entrepreneurship and technology application in the teaching community.
