Final Round of the 1st Korean Speaking Contest in 2022

On the evening of June 24th, 2022, at School of Foreign Languages – Thai Nguyen University, the final round of the first Korean Speaking Contest in 2022 was taken place. The contest was organized by School of Foreign Languages (SFL-TNU) and the Daejin International Volunteers Association (DIVA).

Mr. Tran Tung – Deputy Director of Department of Foreign Affairs, Thai Nguyen province; Mr. Kim Wan Yong – Representative Director of DIVA, Dr. Le Hong Thang – Rector of SFL-TNU; Dr. Luu Quang Sang – Vice Rector of SFL, Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Huong – Vice Rector of SFL; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai – Head of Department of Scientific Management and Foreign Affairs; leaders of faculties, departments and teachers, students of SFL-TNU, and especially the 10 best candidates participating in the final round of the contest attended the contest.

The contest attracted a large number of students from universities and colleges in Thai Nguyen. Overcoming many contestants in the Qualifying round, the 10 best contestants presented in the Final round. They chose one of four topics for eloquence “Why I study Korean”, “My favorite Korean culture”, “My method of learning Korean” and “The thing that I definitely do if I come to Korea”.

Giving welcoming speech at the contest, Dr. Le Hong Thang – Rector of SFL emphasized that the goal of the contest was to provide students of SFL ​​with a playground, a place to demonstrate their understanding of Korean. He expressed his joy that the speaking contest was received great support from the students of SFL. He also congratulated the organizers and wished the contest successfully.

Mr. Kim Wan Yong – Representative Director of DIVA gave opening speech and shared, “The 1st Korean Speaking Contest is held as a playground where everyone can exchange and share and also an opportunity for us to encourage and express our gratitude to students who are learning Korean across the country. I hope that the contest will leave good experience and memories for all the contestants.”

The eloquent part of the contestants began to take place, in a short time, the contestants excellently demonstrated their bravery, confidence and Korean fluency through presentation topics.

After the student’s eloquence, the game for audience was extremely attractive and vibrant. The students enthusiastically answered the questions posed by the organizers and received meaningful gifts.

After the game for audience, the contestants were extremely nervous, waiting for the results from the judges.Contestant Diep Thi Dung – Student of bilingual English Korean class A – K40 shared her feeling when taking part in the contest. 

Congratulations to all of contestants for successfully completing the final round, overcoming many opponents to be honored in the final night. At the end, SFL-TNU was extremely honored to achieve the best results at the contest with prizes including:

After a meaningful journey, the contest officially closed with an explosive and emotional finale. In order to achieve this success, we cannot help but mention the efforts and enthusiasm of the organizing committee, respected judges and especially the efforts of the contestants. Through this contest, it further affirms that choosing to study, practice and experience SFL-TNU is the right and appropriate choice, demonstrating the bravery of the students of SFL-TNU ​​with knowledge, skills, understanding and talents.
