Conference “The Teaching Practice of Social Science subjects at School of Foreign Languages: Orientation and Challenges”

In the atmosphere of the whole education sector in implementing Resolution 29 of the Central Executive Committee on basic and comprehensive innovation of education and training, together with the celebratory atmosphere of millions of teachers, educators, and generations of students towards the 37th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, the School of Foreign Languages successfully held the Conference: “The Teaching Practice of Social Science Subjects at School of Foreign Languages: Orientation and Challenges”. The main goals of the conference was to create an opportunity for teachers, researchers and educators to exchange and share their research and teaching experiences in social science subjects at tertiary level in the context of international integration and industrial revolution 4.0.

The conference included the presences of Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong – Vice Dean of SFL-TNU, Vice-Deputy of the Conference Committee; M.A Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh – Head of Social science department of SFL,  Head of Conference Expert and Edition Deputy; M.A. Mai Ngoc Anh – Head of Chinese Department; M.A. Nguyen Thi Nhu Nguyet – Head of Russian Department; M.A. Nguyen Ngoc Huong, Head of Information Technology and Library Department; together with other researchers and teachers from other universities and colleges in Thai Nguyen province

Giving the opening speech at the Conference, Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Huong warmly welcomed the delegates and the scientists to attend the Conference. Providing that there were 43 papers selected from total of 52 research papers by lecturers and scientists from a number of universities and colleges in Thai Nguyen province for the conference proceedings, Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Huong hoped that many valuable ideas would be contributed to improve the quality of teaching and learning of social sciences according to the new curriculum and syllabus in universities in general, and School of Foreign Languages ​​- Thai Nguyen University in particular

The article papers published in the conference proceeding were organized in 5 topics: Firstly, Political theory (Current situations and the challenges for the study of teaching political theory; economics markets and issues of building economic institutions in Vietnam; international integration and guaranteeing national interests); Secondly, the issues raised in the research and teaching of Language subjects (practice of teaching and learning language subjects; Linguistics and Vietnamese linguistics; language in literature; language and culture; dialects and culture; languages ​​of ethnic minorities); Thirdly, researching and teaching Psychology subjects (Practice of teaching and learning psychological subjects; personality psychology; school psychology during the 4.0 Technology Revolution; building reasoning solutions in school; practical and strategic skills); Fourthly, researching and teaching Information technology subjects (virtual environment in teaching: E-learning; games and educational software; mobile applications and M-learning; new technologies in teaching; software tools to assess foreign language learning); Fifthly, researching and teaching physical education (PE) subjects (physical education subjects in university and college training programs; models of school sports clubs; socialization of physical training and sports (PTS); economy of PTS; factors affecting school PTS and PE; methods of teaching and improving the quality of teaching PE subjects; models and management tools of PTS Clubs in universities and colleges).

All the article papers indicated the authors’ enthusiasm in teaching and research through their experiences in teaching and learning social sciences subjects in Thai Nguyen University; these papers will be useful resources for teaching and learning Social Science subjects at tertiary level now.

The conference was successfully organized thanks to the close instructions and great supports from the Party Committee, the Board of Directors and the efforts of members of the Organizing Committee, Editorial Board and Secretariat of the Conference, along with the valuable support of the School’s departments and other functional units and the participation of all the authors from universities and research institutions. This is a meaningful event in current teaching social sciences at tertiary level to celebrate the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day – the 20th of November.
