School of Foreign Languages – Thai Nguyen University solemnly celebrates its 10th anniversary (2007 – 2017)
The celebration was attended by Mr. Pham Manh Hung – Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Banh The Doan –Cultural Affairs Counselor – China Embassy in Vietnam, US Embassy in Vietnam, leaders of Thai Nguyen People’s Committee Office, Thai Nguyen Emulation Board, and other provincial officials of all sectors as well as those from Thai Nguyen’s agencies, enterprises, training centers and more. Professor Dang Kim Vui – People’s Teacher, Member of Provincial Party Committee, Director of Thai Nguyen University, together with Former Directors of Thai Nguyen University, leaders of universities and schools in Thai Nguyen University also attended the anniversary. Dr. Le Hong Thang – Dean of School of Foreign Languages, Dr. Luu Quang Sang – Vice Dean and all the school’s teachers and staff, students and alumni happily celebrated the anniversary.
School of Foreign Languages – Thai Nguyen University was established according to the Decision 976/QDD-TCCB on December 31st 2007 by Director of Thai Nguyen University. The school is a tertiary institution with the duty of educating, training, and fostering the human recourse of foreign languages, meeting the needs of the society in the current strong international integration all around the world, and serving the socio-economic development strategies of the country in general and the northern mountainous and highland areas in particular. The School also is the center for studying foreign languages and cultures, introducing Vietnamese language and culture to the world, improving the understanding between the nations, drawing a beautiful portrait of Vietnam in international community, and thanks to that, establishing and developing good cooperation between Vietnam and other countries in the world.
Despite a short time of developing, with lots of changes and challenges, with the great efforts from all the members of the School, after 10 years School of Foreign Languages is becoming stronger with their voice heard in not only Thai Nguyen University, but in the country as well.
With total 164 lecturers, among whom there are 14 PhD, 100 M.A and 6 or 7 foreign teachers, the School of Foreign Languages offers 6 under-graduate majors with 11 different programs. Lecturers and staffs of school are more and more qualified and professional, which helps attract more and better students and improve the quality of the graduates. 90% of the graduates have been employed up to now. The modern and convenient infrastructure is also another strength of the school at the moment, which is a great help and motivation for both lecturers and students.
During her 10 first years, School of Foreign Languages have tried her best to improve her education quality, her scientific works and more to strive to the target to become a university of foreign language human resource of high quality. Through further study activities, the school has met the requirements of the new changes and challenges: successful organizing many national conferences, 05 international workshops, and especially at the beginning of December 2017, the School has cooperated with scholars from all over Vietnam and Thai Nguyen University to organize successfully the 3rd VietTESOL International Conference.
